KATHMANDU: Barcelona successfully defended their Spanish La Liga title after securing a comfortable 2-0 victory over Real Madrid at Camp Nou on Sunday night.
Although Barcelona needed only a single point to confirm the championship, the team displayed an aggressive approach from the beginning and completely dominated Real Madrid throughout the match. Two early goals within the first 20 minutes put the game firmly in Barcelona’s control.
Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a brilliant free-kick that gave Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois no chance. Shortly afterward, Ferran Torres doubled the lead by finishing off a clever flick pass from Dani Olmo. Rashford also came close to scoring again in the first half, but Courtois produced an excellent save to deny him.
Real Madrid struggled under pressure for most of the match and failed to mount an effective comeback. Jude Bellingham found the net in the second half, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Apart from that, Madrid created very few meaningful opportunities.
With this victory, Barcelona moved 14 points clear of Real Madrid, officially securing the La Liga title once again.
