KATHMANDU: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered a thrilling win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday night.
In the match played at Rajpur, Bengaluru defeated Mumbai Indians by 2 wickets on the final ball of the game.
Chasing a target of 167 runs set by Mumbai, Bengaluru reached 167 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Krunal Pandya starred for RCB with a brilliant knock of 73 runs. Jacob Bethell contributed 27 runs, Jitesh Sharma added 18, while Devdutt Padikkal scored 12. For Mumbai Indians, Corbin Bosch was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians posted 166 for 7 in 20 overs.
Tilak Varma top-scored with a half-century, making 57 runs. Naman Dhir added 47, Rohit Sharma scored 22, Raj Bawa chipped in with 16, and Will Jacks contributed 10 runs. For Bengaluru, Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed 4 wickets.
With this victory, Royal Challengers Bengaluru climbed to the top of the IPL points table with 14 points from 11 matches.
Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, remain on 6 points from the same number of games. The defeat has officially knocked them out of the playoff race.
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, both with 14 points, are currently placed second and third respectively on the standings.
