KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has officially bid farewell to the Nepal national women’s cricket team ahead of the upcoming Asian Games Women’s Qualifier and the ACC Women’s Premier Cup.
The farewell ceremony was held on Sunday before the team’s departure for the two international tournaments.
The squad will be led by captain Indu Barma, while Puja Mahato has been appointed vice-captain.
Other members of the team include Sita Rana Magar, Sony Pakhrin, Seema KC, Bindu Rawal, Samjhana Khadka, Ruby Poddar, Kabita Kunwar, Kabita Joshi, Riya Sharma, Anu Kadayat, Manisha Upadhayay, and Rubina Chhetri.
The reserve players are Sabitri Dhami, Somu Bista, Sana Parveen, and Laxmi Saud.
The Asian Games Women’s Qualifier will be held from May 23 to 31, while the ACC Women’s Premier Cup is scheduled from June 1 to 13. Both tournaments will take place in Malaysia.
A total of eight teams will compete in the Asian Games qualifier. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have already secured qualification, while the remaining four spots are yet to be decided. Nepal will compete in the qualifier to earn a place in the Asian Games.
