DHANUSHA: The Office of the Auditor General submitted its eighth annual report to the Chief of Madhesh Province, Surendra Labh Karna, today.

During a program organized at the Province Chief’s office in Janakpur, Deputy Auditor General of the Office of the Auditor General, Tara Prasad Pandey, handed over the eighth annual report concerning the audit of the fiscal year 2024/25 to Province Chief Karna.

It is stated that the report covers matters related to financial transactions, revenue collection, budget implementation, expenditure systems, and financial discipline of the ministries, directorates, local levels, and other public entities under the provincial government. The report also highlights the arrears, financial irregularities, expenditures made by bypassing procedures, and areas requiring improvement that were observed during the audit.

Upon receiving the report, Province Chief Karna stated that the role of the Auditor General is vital in promoting good governance, maintaining financial discipline, and making public entities more accountable. He emphasized that the relevant agencies must seriously study the issues pointed out in the report and take the necessary steps for improvement.

Noting that public resources and means must be utilized transparently and effectively, Province Chief Karna expressed the view that all entities must be responsible for making financial transactions lawful, economical, and publicly accountable. He stated that public trust in good governance and development can only be strengthened if the weaknesses pointed out by the audit are corrected.

Deputy Auditor General Pandey expressed the view that the report would help make the financial management of public entities more organized and accountable. He highlighted the need for relevant bodies to take necessary corrective measures for reducing arrears, strengthening internal control systems, and ensuring financial transparency. The program was attended by the Secretary of the Office of the Provincial Chief, employees of the Office of the Auditor General, and representatives of various government agencies.
