KATHMANDU: A combined system of western winds, local winds, and a low-pressure zone near eastern Nepal is bringing contrasting weather conditions across the country today.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast cloudy skies with light to moderate rain, thunder, and lightning for the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, alongside snowfall in higher elevations.

Isolated rain and storms are also possible in parts of the Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. In sharp contrast, scorching conditions will persist elsewhere.

A severe heatwave is set to grip the Terai plains of Sudurpashchim and Lumbini provinces today, while the Terai regions of Madhesh and Koshi provinces face warnings for strong winds and storms.
