SUNSARI: Nepal Police have arrested two teenagers in Sunsari district after they posted a video on social media brandishing an illegal homemade pistol.
According to an notice issued by the police today, the arrested individuals are residents of Dewanganj Rural Municipality-2, Sunsari. Following legal protocols regarding minors, the police have kept their identities confidential, referring to them by the altered names “Inaruwa 131” (17 years old) and “Inaruwa 132” (15 years old).
The arrests were made after a video clip showing the minors displaying the weapon began circulating across various social media networks, drawing the attention of law enforcement officials. Recognizing the potential threat to public safety and the violation of arms regulations, a police team launched a targeted search operation to track down the suspects.
During the operation, security personnel successfully apprehended both teenagers and recovered the illegal homemade pistol featured in the video.
The Sunsari District Police confirmed that both individuals are currently in custody, and a comprehensive investigation is underway regarding the source of the weapon.
