KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehta met with her Bhutanese counterpart, Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk, on Tuesday in Geneva, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the ministry’s joint spokesperson, Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, the two leaders reached an understanding to collaborate on further strengthening their respective health systems to tackle shared regional challenges.
During the bilateral talks, both ministers emphasized that because both nations face similar, shared health challenges, mutual cooperation is essential to address them.
Dr. Adhikari stated that the discussion also focused on strengthening a resilient, inclusive, and people-centric health service system within the health sector.
Prior to this session with the Bhutanese health minister, Minister Mehta had held separate bilateral meetings with her Indian and Chinese counterparts at the assembly.
