KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently experiencing the combined effects of western winds, local winds, and a low-pressure system situated near its eastern region, bringing a high likelihood of rain, thunder, lightning, and strong winds across multiple areas.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the country’s hilly and mountainous regions are currently experiencing generally cloudy conditions, while the Terai plains are seeing partly cloudy skies.

Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is already underway in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division reports that generally cloudy conditions will persist across the country on Friday afternoon.

There is a strong possibility of moderate rainfall, thunder, and lightning in several areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as other hilly and mountainous regions.

Additionally, one or two locations within the Terai plains of Madhesh, Koshi, and Bagmati provinces could see similar weather, while light snowfall is expected in the high-altitude Himalayan regions.

Strong, gusty winds are also predicted for parts of the Terai and hilly areas within Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, weather conditions are forecast to remain generally cloudy across the mountainous and hilly regions—including Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces—while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy skies.

Moderate rain with thunder and lightning remains likely in parts of Sudurpashchim, Lumbini, Karnali, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Koshi provinces’ higher elevations, as well as isolated areas in the Terai plains of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Due to the impending threat of strong winds in several Terai and hilly regions, the Division has urged the general public to exercise caution and stay vigilant.
