KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel attended a special ceremony organized at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel on the occasion of Republic Day, where a contingent of the Nepali Army presented a guard of honor to him.
During the event, a Nepali Army helicopter displayed a banner reading ‘Republic Day 2026’ and showered flower petals from above.
Additionally, the national flag was hoisted, and pigeons were released to wish for peace, alongside a march-past presented by the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, and the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Force.
Various local levels from the Kathmandu Valley also showcased cultural pageants reflecting the country’s unique art and culture.
The ceremony was attended by Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Republic Day Main Organizing Committee Balendra Shah, Chief Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal, and National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal.
Furthermore, members of the Council of Ministers, the Deputy Speaker, the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly, Members of Parliament, heads and officials of constitutional bodies, chiefs of security agencies, local level officials, heads of diplomatic missions based in Kathmandu, and civil servants were also present at the celebration.
