BANGKOK: The Embassy of Nepal in Thailand marked International Everest Day in Bangkok on the evening of May 29, bringing together more than 250 guests to highlight mountain conservation, sustainable tourism, and the growing impacts of climate change on the Himalayan region.

The event was attended by senior Thai government officials, diplomats, representatives of international organizations, tourism leaders, academics, businesspersons, mountaineers, and media professionals. Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal and Ambassador to Thailand Dhan Bahadur Oli emphasized the importance of protecting the Himalayas, describing the region as the “Water Tower of Asia” and calling for greater international cooperation to address climate challenges.

The program featured a documentary on climate change in the Himalayas, a presentation by climate expert Shobhakar Dhakal, and experience-sharing sessions by Thai Everest climber Vitidnan Rojanapanich and Nepali mountaineer Mingmar Sherpa.

The event also included an exhibition of artworks inspired by Nepal, recognition of successful Everest climbers, and the distribution of 17 travel packages to Nepal through a lucky draw.
