KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Council of Ministers has endorsed several important decisions covering environmental cooperation, security sector promotion, committee term extensions, and administrative appointments.

The government approved an agreement with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on the management and reduction of ozone-depleting substances, reaffirming Nepal’s commitment to the Montreal Protocol aimed at protecting the ozone layer.

In the security sector, the cabinet approved the promotion of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Anjani Kumar Pokharel to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG) of the Armed Police Force, Nepal, following a recommendation from the promotion committee.

The cabinet also extended the tenure of a specialized study committee by 45 days to further review national security mechanisms and assess findings related to incidents during demonstrations held on September 8 and 9, 2025.

Additionally, the government has made new appointments to the Land Problem Resolution Committee. Balbhadra Bastola has been named chairperson, while Amir Prasad Neupane, Dr. Rohana Shrestha, and Padmaniti Soti have been appointed as members.
