KATHMANDU: The upcoming film Sarathi has completed its month-long filming schedule in Gurja Khani of Myagdi, marking the on-screen reunion of veteran actors Uttam Pradhan and Niruta Singh nearly two decades after their last collaboration.
Director Kumar Gajurel said only a one-day shoot in Kathmandu remains before the film enters post-production. The release date will be announced after post-production work is completed.
The production team said the return of Pradhan and Singh to the big screen together after almost 20 years has generated significant interest among audiences and within the film industry.
Based on a social storyline, Sarathi portrays the culture, traditions and lifestyle of Gurja, including the lives of the Chantyal and Dalit communities, traditional stone-and-clay houses, and the scenic Gurja-Churen mountain range. The film also aims to showcase the tourism potential of the Gurja region at national and international levels.
Besides Pradhan and Singh, the cast includes Mukunda Shrestha, Rajendra KC, Giri Bishwakarma, Gayatri Joshi, Madan Thapa, Samrant Thapa, Milan Khadka, Rashmi Gurung, Kalpana Thapa, Aasha Bishwakarma, Santosh Dahal, Biplav Khadka, Sagar Kandel and Dhiren Moktan.
The film is a joint production of Kimbhe Production and Dheeraj Infinity Films, produced by Tara Thapa ‘Kimbhe’ and Sauryal Thapa. Cinematography has been handled by Sankalpa Bhujel.
