KATHMaANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has suspended its ongoing internal election process following disputes related to party elections in several provinces and districts.

A meeting of the party’s Central Election Commission, chaired by Commission Head Bhuwan KC, decided to halt all ongoing and scheduled election activities, except those completed by May 31, pending investigation and final decisions on complaints filed over the electoral process.

The commission said election-related activities for ward, municipal and district conventions in the affected areas will remain suspended until further notice. It also warned that any process carried out in defiance of the directive will not receive official recognition.

The move comes as the party intensifies preparations for its first general convention, with election disputes surfacing in several local units.

The suspension affects disputed wards and local levels in Sindhupalchowk under Bagmati Province, as well as multiple local units in Sarlahi, Siraha, Mahottari and Dhanusha districts of Madhesh Province.
