TANAHUN: Under Package-1 of the Tanahun Hydropower Project under construction in Rishing Rural Municipality of Tanahun, 50 percent of the construction of the 140-meter-high main dam has been completed.
The project commenced on March 20, 2025. According to Project Chief Shyamji Bhandari, out of the total 850,000 cubic meters of concrete required for the dam construction, 424,120 cubic meters of concrete have been poured so far.
Once the construction of this 140-meter-high dam is completed, the Tanahun Hydropower Project is believed to establish itself as a significant achievement in Nepal’s energy sector.
Under Package-1, the construction of the dam and other structures is being carried out by Song Da-Kalika JV. This package has achieved 59 percent progress.
For the construction of the main dam, the construction of tunnels and other structures has been completed.
The Seti River has been diverted for the construction of the main dam.
The construction of temporary coffer dams in the upstream and downstream areas of the dam has been completed.
