BAJURA: The Ranisain Struggle Samiti Bajura has shut down the Martadi market and closed the Karnali corridor demanding the arrest of the culprits of the incident that took place May 19 in Ranisain of Himali Rural Municipality-3.
In the incident that took place at Lampata of Ranisain, the Chief Administrative Officer of Himali Rural Municipality Kul Bahadur Thapa, ward number 3 member Pemagara Gurung, his wife Laxmi Gurung, local resident Minu Kunwar and police assistant constable Mahesh Dhami were injured in an attack by locals from Humla.
Himali Rural Municipality spokesperson Bhimananda Pandey told RSS that the market and Karnali Corridor Road were closed in protest against the burning of a cowshed, demolition of houses and eviction of 35 families by a group of more than 100 people from Kharpunath Rural Municipality of Humla in Lampata, Ranisain.
A complaint was registered at the District Police Office, Bajura, against 23 people, including Devraj Rawal, a local of Kharpunath Rural Municipality-2 Thali, Humla, who were involved in the incident but no action was taken. Hence, the market and the corridor have been closed to exert pressure on the District Administration Office, Bajura, spokesperson Pandey informed.
The Ranisain Victims’ Struggle Committee Bajura submitted a memorandum to Chief District Officer Dorendra Niraula on Wednesday, demanding action against the perpetrators of the Ranisain incident and the establishment of a police post in Lampata of Ranisain.
Chief District Officer Niraula however said that a secretary-level decision was taken a week ago to set up a Border Protection Outpost (BPO) of the Armed Police Force and a temporary police post of the Nepal Police in Lampata.
