KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal is set to visit China soon.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed that internal preparations for the visit are underway and the schedule of the visit will be announced soon. Minister Khanal had recently paid a three-day official visit to India.
During an interaction with media persons organized at the ministry on Wednesday, Minister Khanal said that there should be unanimity among the government, political parties, all state bodies and the media sector on issues of national interest. He also urged sensitivity in disseminating information related to foreign affairs.
Speaking about the new task and reform plans to be undertaken by the ministry, he said that additional human resources and physical infrastructure will be upgraded in Nepali missions abroad as per the requirement.
Similarly, Minister Khanal shared about the plans to strengthen the Institute of Foreign Affairs, launch the Lumbini Fellowship Program, organize a geostrategic conference, and resolve the challenges seen in passport biometrics.
On the occasion, he said that his recent visit to India was effective and fruitful, and mentioned that he had an open and cordial bilateral discussion with his Indian counterpart on various issues of mutual interest.
Also speaking at the event, Foreign Secretary, Amrit Bahadur Rai, said that the Ministry is working for economic prosperity and good governance as per the commitment of the current government.
