KATHMANDU: Politician Dhawal Shumsher Rana and medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, coordinator of the Citizen Rescue Campaign, have advanced their plans to form a new political party by announcing 31 organizational departments.

At a joint press conference held in Kathmandu on Sunday, the duo officially assigned departmental responsibilities to key figures, including Mukunda Shyam Giri, Sagun Sundar Lawoti, and Raju Acharya.

This development follows an initial announcement on June 4, when Rana—the former General Secretary of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)—publicly resigned from the RPP alongside several party cadres to launch a new political campaign.

While the precise name and formal structure of the party were initially kept under wraps, this latest gathering signals a concrete step forward in their organizational buildup.

During Sunday’s conference, Prasai launched a sharp critique against RPP establishment.

He accused his former party, the RPP, of exploiting religion and the monarchy purely for parliamentary seats and administrative perks while ignoring public welfare.

Prasai further claimed that traditional forces like the Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), and Nepali Communist Party, alongside newer parties like the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), would fail to sustain their political influence, labeling current leadership as failures in protecting the country’s borders and citizens.
