KATHMANDU: Repair and reinstatement works of streetlights along the Jadibuti-Suryabinayak section of the Arniko Highway have been intensified.

Daily commuters and local residents had long been complaining about the increased risk of traffic accidents at night due to the lack of functioning streetlights. Addressing these public concerns, the responsible company has initiated the maintenance and management of the broken lights.

A total of 450 smart streetlights, each with a capacity of 120 watts, are installed along this vital road section. These lights were originally set up in 2022 during the tenure of the then Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising.

Nighttime travel along the highway is expected to become significantly safer and smoother once the ongoing maintenance work is completed.
