KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that monsoonal winds are currently impacting the Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, alongside parts of Gandaki and eastern Lumbini.
Meanwhile, western and local winds are partially affecting the remaining regions of the country.
Currently, skies are generally cloudy over the hilly and mountainous terrains, with light rain already falling at isolated spots in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini.
During the day, generally cloudy conditions will persist across the high Himalayas, hilly regions, and the plains of Koshi, while the plains of Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki will see partial cloud cover.
Conversely, the weather will remain mostly clear in the plains of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.
The division has warned of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in several parts of the hilly and mountainous terrain, as well as parts of the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki plains.
In contrast, a severe heatwave is expected to persist in the plains of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim, while parts of the Bagmati and Gandaki plains will experience an intensely hot day.
Tonight, generally cloudy skies will continue over the eastern and central high-altitude regions and the Koshi plains, while the rest of the country’s plains will remain mostly clear.
Light to moderate thundershowers are forecast to continue tonight in isolated areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Madhesh provinces.
