KATHMANDU: FIFA has issued an immediate, indefinite suspension to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) due to ongoing third-party intervention.

The severe disciplinary ruling follows a long-standing deadlock between ANFA and the National Sports Council (NSC) concerning executive elections and administrative jurisdiction.

While both FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) had previously warned the country to shield its sporting operations from political meddling, local authorities failed to comply, prompting the international body to invoke Article 14 of its governing statutes.

As a direct consequence of this ban, Nepal’s presence on the international stage has been completely frozen.

National squads, local clubs, and structural officials are officially barred from all international fixtures, development programs, and continental training seminars.

Additionally, critical financial subsidies provided by FIFA and the AFC to support grassroots Nepali football have been entirely cut off.

The strict embargo will only be lifted once external political interference ends and FIFA’s compliance conditions are met, though the governing council reserves the right to lift the ban prior to the next global Congress.
