NEW DELHI: Dhiraj Seth has officially taken charge as the Chief of the Army Staff of India.
Indian media reports confirmed that General Seth took over the responsibility on Tuesday, becoming the 31st Army Chief of the country.
He succeeds General Upendra Dwivedi, who retired after an illustrious career spanning over 40 years of service in the Indian Army.
According to the news agency PTI, General Seth is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla. Prior to assuming the top post of Army Chief, he had also served as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff.
