Saudi Arabia grants pardon to 33 Nepali inmates

KATHMANDU: The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has granted a royal pardon to 33 Nepali inmates serving sentences in various Saudi prisons.

The amnesty was issued on the auspicious occasion of Ramadan 1447 AH (2026).

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the royal pardon was granted following a formal request made by the Government of Nepal through the Embassy of Nepal in Riyadh.

Expressing its sincere appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to the Saudi government, MoFA stated that this kind gesture reflects the longstanding friendship, deep goodwill, and cordial bilateral relations shared between Nepal and Saudi Arabia.

The pardoned individuals will return home to Nepal as soon as the standard legal and administrative procedures in Saudi Arabia are completed.
