More tourists visiting Shuklaphanta National Park

KANCHANPUR: Shuklaphanta National Park in Sudurpaschim Province is seeing a steady rise in visitors, welcoming 4,191 tourists so far in the current fiscal year, which runs from July 17, 2025, to July 16, 2026.

This marks a 12.6% increase (469 more visitors) compared to the 3,722 tourists who visited the previous year.

According to Park Information Officer Purushottam Wagle, the visitor breakdown between mid-September 2025 and early-July 2026 consisted of 1,657 women and 2,534 men.

Domestic tourism heavily drives the park’s popularity, with Nepalis making up roughly 88% of all total guests (3,699 individuals, including 1,513 women and 2,186 men).

International arrivals are also on a gradual upswing; the park hosted 358 tourists from SAARC nations (87 women, 271 men) and 156 from third countries (57 women, 99 men), representing an increase of 22 foreign visitors compared to the last fiscal year.
