BHAKTAPUR: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, along with several other ministers inspected the holding center in Kharipati, Bhaktapur, today.

Accompanied by Home Minister Gurung were Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokhrel; Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs, and General Administration Pratibha Rawal; Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities, and Social Security Sita Badi; Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehta; and Minister for Youth, Labor, and Employment Ramjee Yadav.

During the visit, Land Management Minister Rawal stated that the government is working to distribute land ownership certificates (Lalpurja) through proper legal procedures so that no one can question the process in the future. Acknowledging that the management of landless squatters will take some time, she emphasized that the government is working toward a sustainable solution. She also urged everyone not to use the issue of squatters for political leverage.

According to the Home Minister’s secretariat, the ministers also held discussions with the landless squatters to brief them on the government’s immediate and long-term management plans.

The squatters were recently relocated to the Kharibot-based holding center after the previous holding center in Kirtipur was inundated by floods.
