KATHMANDU: Five members have been appointed at the Nepal Tourism Board through open competition.
Those getting appointment on Tuesday are Khum Bahadur Subedi, Santosh Pokharel, Shrijana KC, Pemba Sherpa and Dr Shobhita Shrestha Dhakal.
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation informed that they were appointed after conducting evaluation by a selection committee. The selection committee formed as per Tourism Act evaluated the applicants’ expertise, qualification, contribution to tourism and leadership capacity.
Total 1,100 persons had applied for the post from across the country.
The open competition was adopted in a bid to ensure transparency in appointment and promote tourism destinations, formulation of relevant tourism policy, attraction to investment and strengthening of public-private partnership.
It is expected that the expertise and leadership of the newly appointed board members would foster sustainable development of tourism in Nepal.
