KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall has triggered widespread floods and landslides, completely blocking 8 major road sections across the country.

Additionally, traffic is restricted to one-way operations on 6 other highways, according to the Nepal Police.

Police reports indicate that the Mechi Highway has been blocked at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9, disrupting traffic along the Jhapa-Taplejung road section. However, vehicles are currently being diverted to alternative routes in the area.

The BP Highway has also been closed due to potential flooding risks. Similarly, the Kanti Lokpath highway is completely blocked following massive landslides.

Other key routes entirely shut down by the disaster include the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok, the Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road in Arghakhanchi, and the Ridi-Rudrabeni road section in Gulmi.

Meanwhile, traffic is limited to a single lane on the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur, the Bhimphedi section of the Kanti Lokpath in Makwanpur, the Nayapul-Ghandruk road in Kaski, the Mid-Hill Highway in Baglung, and the Kaligandaki Corridor road in Gulmi.

Given the widespread disruptions, police have urged travelers to check current road conditions and weather updates before setting out on their journeys.
