KATHMANDU: A man has gone missing after entering the Bagmati River for a swim in Chobhar, Kathmandu.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 11:45 a.m. on Thursday when the man entered the river and was swept away by the current.
Eyewitnesses said the missing individual worked as a tourist guide. He had accompanied a group of foreign visitors to the Jal Binayak Temple area in Chobhar and entered the Bagmati River for a swim during the visit. He disappeared after being caught in the river’s current.
A joint search and rescue operation was launched immediately after the incident. Teams from the Nepal Police Disaster Response and Training Center in Samakhusi, the Armed Police Force’s Riot Regiment, and the Nepal Army’s Shree Jagadal Battalion are conducting the search.
Police said the man’s condition and whereabouts remain unknown, and further details are awaited.
