Goods worth Rs 218 billion imported through Birgunj in Q1 of current FY

BIRGUNJ: Through the Birgunj customs point, goods worth Rs 218.10 billion have been imported during the first three months of the current fiscal year.

Compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year, imports increased by 19 percent, or Rs 3.423 billion.

According to the Birgunj Customs Office, goods worth Rs 183.87 billion were imported during the first three months of the last fiscal year.

Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, Chief Customs Administrator at Birgunj, stated that imports through Birgunj surged sharply in the first three months of the current fiscal year.

During the three months, petroleum products worth Rs 38.09 billion were imported through Birgunj.

Iron and iron products valued at Rs 19.84 billion were also imported. Machinery and spare parts worth Rs 15.57 billion were brought in, while crude soybean oil imports reached Rs 14.80 billion.

Additionally, fertilizers worth Rs 12.81 billion and all types of garments worth Rs 12.16 billion were imported.

Electrical machinery, equipment, and spare parts worth Rs 12.06 billion were also brought into the country.

Transport vehicles and their spare parts imports amounted to Rs 10.12 billion, according to the Birgunj Customs Office.
