NEPSE declines to 2,540 as trading volume rises

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 5.15 points to close at 2,540 on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.

The market remained relatively stable, showing only minor intraday fluctuations, with the index dipping to 2,533 points at 2:53 PM. Share prices increased for 74 companies, declined for 168, and remained unchanged for 14.

Despite the dip in the index, total trading turnover rose to Rs. 3.89 billion, up from Rs. 3.49 billion on the previous trading day. Sectoral movements were modest, with all indices fluctuating within 1%. The Hotels & Tourism (+0.18%), Manufacturing & Processing (+0.02%), and Others (+0.72%) sectors posted gains, while Banking (−0.30%), Development Bank (−0.52%), Finance (−0.87%), Hydropower (−0.49%), Investment (−0.34%), Life Insurance (−0.12%), Microfinance (−0.38%), Non-life Insurance (−0.49%), and Trading (−0.10%) saw declines.

Three newly listed companies—Sagar Distillery, Bungol Hydropower, and Bandipur Cable Car—hit the 10% positive circuit, while Nabil Debenture 2085 and Nabil Debenture 2089 also recorded strong gains. On the losing side, Bhugol Energy plunged 10%, accompanied by declines in Ruru Hydropower (−9.52%), Daramkhola Hydropower (−6.09%), Peoples Hydropower (−5.23%), and Mabilung Energy (−4.37%). The most heavily traded securities of the day included Siddhartha Bank Debenture 089, Nepal Reinsurance, Mountain Energy, NRN Infrastructure, and Union Hydropower.
