NEPSE drops by double digits, market turnover shirks to Rs 4.703 billion

KATHMANDU: On the fourth trading day of the week, today, Thursday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has decreased by double digits. Along with the NEPSE, the trading amount has also declined.

The NEPSE has decreased by 13.46 points on Thursday. Dropping by 0.48 percent compared to the previous trading day, the NEPSE closed at the 2766.78 index point.

On this day, the sensitive index also decreased by 1.67 points and closed at the 473.76 index point. In terms of percentage, this is 0.35 percent less compared to the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index decreased by 0.36 percent and the Sensitive Float Index decreased by 0.30 percent.

In the stock market on Thursday, at least 10,617,483 shares of 353 companies were bought and sold 51,601 times. According to this, a turnover of Rs 4.703 billion took place on Thursday.

A turnover of Rs 5.738 billion was recorded on the NEPSE on Wednesday. A turnover of Rs 5.265 billion took place on Tuesday, while a turnover of Rs 5.614 billion had been transacted on Monday.

In the stock market today, the share prices of only 63 companies increased. While the share prices of 198 companies headed downward, the share prices of eight companies remained stable. Out of the 13 groups traded on the NEPSE today, Thursday, the indices of all 12 groups except Mutual Fund turned red.

According to this, on Thursday, the indices of Commercial Bank declined by 0.03 percent, Development Bank by 0.44 percent, Finance by 0.23 percent, Hotels and Tourism by 1.07 percent, Hydro Power by 0.51 percent, Investment by 0.46 percent, Life Insurance by 0.46 percent, Manufacturing and Processing by 0.53 percent, and Microfinance group by 0.18 percent. While the sub-index of the Mutual Fund group increased by 0.32 percent, Non-Life Insurance decreased by 1.20 percent, Others by 0.75 percent, and the Trading group sub-index decreased by 1.71 percent.

On Thursday, while the investors of Kalinchowk Hydropower earned 14.99 percent on the NEPSE, the investors of SBL Debenture lost 10.48 percent of their share value.

In terms of transaction amount, EBL Debenture remained in the leading position today. A turnover of Rs 340.1 million took disposal on Thursday.

Similarly, based on the number of shares traded, Ankhu Khola remained ahead today as well. On Thursday, at least 747,700 shares of this company were traded.

While 988,177 shares of this company were traded on Wednesday, at least 1,081,313 shares were traded on Tuesday. Likewise, some 997,531 shares were bought and sold on Monday. Its final transaction price today stood at Rs 442 per share.
