Over Rs 94 billion deposited in Social Security Fund

KATHMANDU: The Social Security Fund has accumulated a total of Rs 94.09 billion so far, according to the latest data released by the Fund. Out of this amount, the fund has disbursed Rs 17.29 billion to contributors under various schemes.

The fund currently has 2,592,141 registered contributors and 22,125 registered employers across the country.The Fund said it is continuing efforts to bring more employers into its network.

Among the total disbursements, Rs 2.42 billion has been paid under medical treatment, health, and maternity benefits, while Rs 223 million was distributed for accident and disability security, Rs 283 million for dependent family security, and Rs 14.36 billion for retirement claims.

Officials said the Fund’s growing deposits and expanding coverage indicate rising participation from both employees and employers, as social security gradually takes stronger institutional roots in Nepal’s labor system.
