KATHMANDU: Authorities are preparing to relocate families staying at the Kirtipur holding center to Kharipati, Bhaktapur, after floodwaters inundated the facility following continuous overnight rainfall.
Floodwater entered the holding center at around 1 AM, forcing landless settlers taking shelter there to move their belongings to safer locations. However, officials said a final decision on the relocation has yet to be made.
In the meantime, the displaced families have been temporarily accommodated at Smriti Bhawan in Kirtipur, while the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force have increased security deployment at the holding center.
