KATHMANDU: A prisoner who escaped from Nakkhu Prison has been arrested by police in Baitadi.

According to police, 47-year-old Narendra Singh Ratoki of Kafali, Purchaudi Municipality, was taken into custody from his home at around 2:50 am on Friday.

District Police Office spokesperson and Police Inspector Baldev Badu said the arrest was carried out by a police team led by Police Inspector Indra Raj Bhatt from the Area Police Office Patan.

Ratoki had escaped from Nakkhu Prison during the Gen Z movement protests on Sep 8 and 9. He had been sentenced to 17 years and six months in prison in connection with rape and robbery cases.
