HORMOZGAN: A Nepali national has been detained by Iran in the Hormuz region after authorities seized a vessel and took its crew into custody, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Friday.

The individual has been identified as Amrit Jha, who was working aboard the ship at the time of the incident. According to the Ministry’s West Asia Division, all crew members were detained when Iranian forces took control of the vessel.

The ministry further stated that it had been informed earlier by Jha’s relatives regarding his detention.

Further details about his condition and the circumstances of the seizure have yet to be disclosed, while diplomatic follow-up is expected.
