Endowment Fund announced in memory of late journalist Dinesh Sitaula

KATHMANDU: An endowment fund of Rs 1 million has been announced in memory of late Dinesh Sitaula, the immediate past president of the Film Journalists Association Nepal. The announcement was made during a tribute assembly organized on the occasion of his 13th-day death ritual.

Association President Samir Balami said the fund has been established to organize an annual program every February 1 in Sitaula’s memory and to present the “Late Dinesh Sitaula Film Journalism Memorial Award” on the association’s anniversary.

Chairperson of the Film Development Board, Dinesh DC, recalled Sitaula’s contributions to Nepali film journalism and the broader film industry. Highlighting his role in fostering cooperation between senior and emerging journalists and filmmakers, he appealed for collective support and announced a contribution of Rs 51,000 on behalf of the board.

Similarly, Mohan Niraula, President of the Film Artists Association Nepal, paid tribute to Sitaula, describing him as a supportive and positive personality. He contributed Rs 10,000 personally to the fund.

The association stated that more than Rs 300,000 has already been collected from film journalists, producers, and other supporters. In addition, the team of the film Jhari Pachhi Koo Indreni pledged Rs 1 million toward the fund on the occasion of the film’s 51st day of screening. Organizers said further contributions are continuing to come in.
