KATHMANDU: Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Danielle Meuwly and Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Maeda Toru were seen together attending a special screening of the Japanese film Climbing for Life at the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) in Kathmandu on May 30, 2026.

The film portrays the life of mountaineer Junko Tabei, the first woman to summit Mount Everest, and is based on her adventurous journey. It had earlier been screened at the 38th Tokyo International Film Festival in October 2025, marking the 50th anniversary of her historic Everest achievement.

The film was awarded the Audience Award, as voted by festival viewers, reflecting strong audience engagement and its thematic connection with Nepal.
