861 people diagnosed with TB in Karnali Province

SURKHET:As many as 861 people have been diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB) in 10 districts of Karnali Province in the first eight months of the fiscal year 2025/26. 

According to Padam Bahadur KC, Tuberculosis and Leprosy Officer of the Health Services Directorate, Surkhet, in fiscal year 2023/34, as many as 1,714 were diagnosed with TB and the number dropped to 1,539 in fiscal year 2024/25. 

He said that in fiscal year 2025/26, as many as 296 people were diagnosed in Surkhet, 19 in Humla, 104 in Salyan, 101 in Jajarkot, 93 in Rukum West, 83 in Dailekh, 46 in Kalikot, 21 in Dolpa, and 19 in Mugu. 

Currently, 415 TB treatment centers, two MDR treatment centers and 10 specialist centers are operating in Surkhet.
