BANGKOK: Thailand has heightened its aviation screening and preventive measures following a global health alert regarding the Ebola virus.

The proactive response was triggered after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the ongoing Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), citing an elevated risk of international spread.

In response, Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) officially designated both countries as high-risk infected zones to fortify local containment efforts.

To ensure a seamless defense at the borders, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) coordinated an emergency briefing with airlines, airport authorities, and the Division of International Communicable Disease Control and Quarantine.

The coalition has established a unified public health framework designed to streamline monitoring protocols across the aviation sector and counter any potential cross-border transmission.
