BEIRUT: Despite the official announcement of a new US-brokered ceasefire agreement reached between Lebanese and Israeli officials in Washington, DC, Israel’s deadly strikes have continued unabated across Lebanon.

The human toll of the conflict has climbed sharply, with Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirming that at least 3,526 people have been killed and 10,733 others injured in Israeli strikes since March 2.

The truce has faced immediate roadblocks from key regional actors.

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem explicitly rejected the deal, labeling it a “farce” and issuing a stern warning that northern Israel will remain a target for his fighters for as long as the bombardment of Lebanon continues.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared that “no peace in the region” will be achieved until Israel fully withdraws from Lebanese territory.

According to Iranian media reports, the IRGC added that any potential deal between Tehran and Washington must inherently involve a complete end to the conflict in Lebanon.

In Washington, US President Donald Trump strongly criticized domestic political opposition to his foreign policy agenda, branding lawmakers who voted for a resolution to limit his war-making capabilities against Iran as “unpatriotic.”

Highlighting his administration’s resolve on the matter, Trump stated, “We’re going to win one way or the other … it’s going to be militarily or on paper.”
