TEHRAN: Tehran has accused Israel of violating the Lebanon ceasefire agreement 84 times since a recent memorandum of understanding was brokered between Iran and the United States.

Following an Israeli military action that killed four people in southern Lebanon, Iran has threatened a “harsh response” if the attacks continue.

The geopolitical friction has drawn sharp criticism from US President Donald Trump, who publicly rebuked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that the Israeli leader needs to act “more responsible” regarding operations in Lebanon.

Amid these rising regional tensions, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi outlined strict prerequisites for any future diplomacy with Washington, asserting that any final agreement with the US must include the release of frozen Iranian assets, substantial sanctions relief, and the total withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.

Meanwhile, the conflict expanded on another front as Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich claimed to have cancelled the 1997 Hebron agreement.

This controversial move threatens to strip the local Palestinian municipality of its historic authority over construction and civil administration in the occupied West Bank’s largest city.
