KATHMANDU: A group of youth staged a demonstration at Maitighar in Kathmandu on Saturday, demanding the implementation of a directly elected executive presidential system by the year 2030 as the foundation for a prosperous Nepal.

In addition to their primary demand, the protesting youth called for the abolition of provincial governments to strengthen local tiers and proposed a streamlined 10-member central cabinet.

Their list of demands also includes bringing education and healthcare entirely under state ownership, the complete nationalization of all banks in Nepal, and harsher punishments for criminals alongside reformed crime investigation procedures.

Arjun Bishwakarma, one of the protesting youths, stated that they are also advocating for a scientific land reform act to permanently resolve the issues faced by landless settlers, landless farmers and marginalized citizens.

Furthermore, the protestors emphasized the need to rewrite the current academic curriculum to establish a skill- and technology-based practical education system.
