KATHMANDU: At least nine people were killed and 106 others sustained injuries in various traffic accidents across Nepal over a 24-hour period ending July 20, according to data released by Nepal Police.

Madhesh Province recorded the highest casualties and injuries nationwide, reporting three deaths and 46 injured individuals, accounting for nearly half of the total injuries across the country.

Koshi Province and Sudurpashchim Province each reported two fatalities, with 21 and 16 injuries respectively.

In Lumbini Province, one person lost their life and 11 others were injured, while Bagmati Province recorded one fatality with no reported injuries outside the capital region.

In urban and hilly areas, Kathmandu Valley logged seven injuries with zero fatalities, and Karnali Province reported five injuries. Gandaki Province remained the only region completely accident-free during the period, recording no deaths or injuries.
