KATHMANDU: A contempt of court case has been filed at the Supreme Court against the chairperson and members of the Property Inquiry Commission for allegedly violating a recent apex court directive.
Advocate Prem Raj Silwal among others registered the petition against Commission Chief Rajendra Kumar Bhandari and four other members, with the hearing scheduled for July 16.
The petition claims that on July 13, the Commission published a misleading notice selectively interpreting an interim order issued by a division bench on July 10, in an attempt to bypass the court’s restrictions and continue its operations.
Petitioners have demanded maximum penalties under the Administration of Justice Act, which allows for up to one year in prison or a Rs. 10,000 fine for defying judicial orders.
