HUMLA: A landslide that occurred last night in Nepka village of Chankheli Rural Municipality–5 in Humla has damaged the building of Danphe Basic School in the same ward.

Local resident Chhakka Bahadur Tamang said the landslide, triggered after sudden hail and rainfall, also damaged agricultural land and livestock sheds in addition to the school building.

The sheds of Chankheli–5 ward chair Harkadhan Tamang and resident Dhan Singh Tamang have been buried by the landslide. Livestock such as sheep and goats kept there have also been affected.

However, the exact extent of the damage has not yet been confirmed, according to Chief of District Police Office Humla, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shankar Khadka.

He said a police team has already been deployed to the affected site. Chankheli Rural Municipality, located northeast of the district headquarters Simkot, consists of four villages: Lower Pali, Upper Pali, Piplang, and Nepka.
