KATHMANDU: The National Vigilance Centre (NVC) has intensified surprise inspections across various government offices.

According to Sarita Khatiwada, the Information Officer at the Centre, surprise inspections are currently being conducted in 10 offices daily.

She informed that five separate teams have been mobilized to monitor employee attendance, dress code compliance, and file processing times during official working hours.

Khatiwada further stated that the Centre has inspected 1,130 offices since last mid-July.

During these inspections, 6,710 employees were found violating office hours, while 1,162 employees were caught not wearing the prescribed uniform.

Some offices have been inspected two to three times during this period.

Khatiwada added that the Centre has recommended action against the non-compliant employees found during these surprise visits.

The respective offices will issue warning letters to these employees in accordance with Section 55 of the Civil Service Act, 1992, and a record of the warning will be maintained in their official files.

Furthermore, the Act mandates departmental action against employees who have already received up to two warnings.

The Centre is also conducting inspections in one district from each of the seven provinces, focusing primarily on district offices that experience high public dealing.
