KATHMANDU: The government has appointed new leadership to key judicial bodies, naming Judge Basudev Acharya of the Tulsipur High Court as Chairperson of the Special Court and Judge Dipendra Adhikari of the Surkhet High Court as Chairperson of the Labor Court.

Announcing the decisions of Wednesday’s cabinet meeting, Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel shared that the government also appointed Shailendra Raj Kunwar as Administrator of the Guthi Sansthan.

Beside administrative appointments, the cabinet rolled out a major incentive package for international aviation, offering a 100 percent waiver on landing, parking, and navigation charges, plus a 50 percent cut on ground handling fees, for regular international flights operating at Pokhara and Gautam Buddha International Airports through mid-September 2028.

In a key move against financial exploitation, the government formally ratified the July 17 agreement signed with victims of loan sharking, declaring all fraudulent loan-sharking documents null and void effective immediately.

To address public demand for accountability, a judicial panel under former High Court Judge Keshav Prasad Bastola was formed to investigate the self-immolation of Ganesh Nepali, while full tax waivers were granted on Education Equity and Health Equity fees under Section 18(1) of the Financial Act.
