KATHMANDU: The founder of Gatisheel Loktantrik Party, Birendra Bahadur Basnet has left the party.

He announced his resignation, stating that the current political culture does not align with his conscience.

Writing on his Facebook page this Friday morning, he said: “I realized that within the limits of positions and political parties, it is not possible to make the contribution that my experience, capability, and immense love for the country seek. My path ahead will be different, but my dedication to the country remains the same.”

Basnet also mentioned that he had joined the new political movement following the nationwide public uprising on September 8 and 9 last year, during which 76 youths were martyred.

With this announcement, Basnet has declared that he will now remain independent. He had been serving as the founder and a central committee member of the Gatisheel Loktantrrik Party.
