KATHMANDU: The government has decided to abolish internal examinations for students up to Grade 5, starting from the upcoming academic session.

A Cabinet meeting held on Friday endorsed the decision as part of a broader governance reform agenda. The move is included in a list of 100 reform initiatives approved during the meeting.

According to the agenda, listed under point number 89, internal examinations for students up to Grade 5 will be discontinued from the next academic year. The government has also committed to developing an alternative evaluation system designed to minimize psychological pressure and stress on young learners.

The decision aims to create a more child-friendly assessment approach, focusing on reducing academic burden while ensuring effective learning outcomes.
