KATHMANDU: Gauri Bahadur Karki, the chairperson of the judicial investigation commission formed to study the human and material damage caused during the Gen Z movement, has submitted the commission’s report to the government, claiming that the country’s condition could change if the report is implemented.

The report was handed over to Prime Minister Sushila Karki by commission Chair Karki during a program held on Sunday.

“Bad governance is the reason behind this incident. Regulatory bodies have been distorted. There is delay everywhere, from the judiciary to the executive,” he said. “The tendency of making even judicial and constitutional appointments through party-based power sharing has increased public anger. If this report is implemented, the face of the country will change.”

Commission member Bigyan Raj Sharma said that the report only carries out an investigation, and the concerned authorities must now conduct further inquiries and take action. He added that the report has laid the foundation for such investigations.

Another member, Bishweshwar Bhandari, said that if the recommendations in the report regarding good governance are implemented, the condition of the country could improve.

Receiving the report, Prime Minister Karki said that she and the Home Minister would study it and present it to the Council of Ministers.

“I fully believe that you have presented the report by clearly separating truth from falsehood,” she said while receiving it. “I believe the report reflects your expertise and competence in the fields of justice, law, and investigation. After studying it, we will move forward with the process of implementation.”

During the program, the commission’s Chair Karki stated that the commission worked honestly and included in the report whatever they found, without any bias or prejudice.
