KATHMANDU: Members of the National Assembly have disrupted the upper house proceedings, demanding an official explanation from the Government of Nepal regarding claims that Nepal has encroached upon the Indian border.

Immediately after the session commenced, lawmaker Ranjit Karna took emergency time to strongly object to the controversial statement made by Prime Minister Balendra Shah during Sunday’s House of Representatives meeting. He demanded that the government immediately clarify the context and intent behind the Prime Minister’s remarks.

Following lawmaker Karna, other MPs—including Rajendra Lakshmi Gaire, Ram Kumari Jhakri, and Tula Prasad Bishwakarma—also drew serious attention to the Prime Minister’s address and called for an official stance from the government. Right after the emergency time concluded, lawmakers stood up from their seats in protest, effectively halting the assembly’s proceedings.
